Bartercard, the Australian based company and World's Largest Trade Exchange, celebrates its 15th Birthday in February this year.

Bartercard will be celebrating in style, with a host of functions orgainsed throughout the year to mark the milestone achievements of the company.

Bartercard's birthday will also include its International Licensees with the annual Bartercard International Conference being held in Queensland mid-year to coincide with the official birthday party.

Considering the ingenious Bartercard concept, formalising the age-old business art of barter, it is little surprise this company has gone from strength to strength.

Co-founder and Bartercard Executive Chairman, Wayne Sharpe said the company now has 70,000 cardholders globally who are enjoying the benefits of Bartercard daily.

"Five years ago, our annual turnover was $AUD800 million, and today, our global Trade Volume exceeds AUD$1.2 billion a year," he said.

In Australia, Bartercard enters its 15th year with the groundbreaking roll-out of electronic Bartercard transactions.

The monumental alliance between Bartercard and four major banks, allows Bartercard transactions to be processed electronically using EFTPOS and XPOS.

The initiative is already 'live' with the Commonwealth Bank of Australia and National Australia Bank, with St George and Westpac Banking coming on-line this month.

Mr Sharpe believes the relationship Bartercard has forged with the banks is indicative of how Bartercard has become a major player in Australian business.

"The roll-out of the initiative in 2006 is the perfect way for us to mark Bartercard's success over the last 15 years, and set the platform for even further growth well into the future," Mr Sharpe said.

"By any measure Bartercard is proud to count itself among the true success stories of Australian business."
